LIQUISEA with HUMIC ACID

with HUMIC ACID

LIQUISEA with Humic Acid offers all the benefits of our standard LIQUISEA Concentrate plus the addition of a natural source of organic matter and its associated benefits. The plant growth hormones found in seaweed give the signal to the plant to grow and this combined with the Humic Acids ability to ‘unlock’ nutrients strengthens these signals resulting in greater root growth, stronger plants and improved natural defences against pests and diseases.

As gardeners/horticulturalists/allotments, we all know the importance of our soil (growing medium) having a good humus content. Humus is what is left behind from decomposing organic matter. Humus interacts with all the important elements in the soil such as soil particles, nutrients and plants and provides stability, making it a vital component of any healthy soil. Humus is composed of a number of organic components of which Humic Acid is one.

The Humic Acid that we use in our product is produced from naturally occurring Leonardite. Leonardite is a mineral derived from concentrated humified plant deposits and is up to four times stronger than other humic (organic) matter.

Humic acids are important for transporting nutrients from the soil to the plant. The negative charge of humic acids means they can hold on to positively charged nutrients (such as Iron, Copper, Zinc and Manganese) and prevent them from leaching away, thus increasing the nutrient holding capacity of the soil. The root systems of plants also have a negative charge; however, this charge is stronger than that of the Humic Acid and so it is drawn to the roots. Here the positive ions leave the Humic Acid and attach to the plant roots where they are absorbed by the plants and used for growth and reproduction.

Humic acid will also improve soil structure by making clay particles more porous and softer. This in turn makes the soil more aerobic improving drainage and allowing for deeper root growth and the establishment of mycorrhizal fungi. Humic acid has a high carbon content which provides a food source for micro-organisms improving the soil ecology.

The benefits of Humic Acid within the plant includes stimulating overall plant growth and biomass by increasing cell division, along with enhancing the plants natural resistance to pests and diseases.

As Humic Acid improves the nutrient availability within the soil, it will also mean that fewer applications of chemical fertilisers are required.
